Veterinary Assistant

We are a small, independently owned veterinary hospital seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team on a temporary, part-time basis.

Veterinary Technicians play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our patients. In this position, you will work closely with our veterinarian to assist with exams, procedures, and patient care.

• Triage pets as they arrive at the clinic, gathering essential information about their medical history and needs.
• Interview pet owners to understand their concerns and provide personalized care for their animals.
• Take vital signs, collect blood samples, and perform other diagnostic tasks under the supervision of our veterinarian.
• Assist with animal handling and restraint, ensuring the safety and comfort of both animals and staff.
• Monitor and assist during surgeries, providing critical support to our veterinarian and maintaining a sterile environment.
• Administer medications, provide dosage instructions, and maintain accurate patient records.

• Licensed RVT with experience working in a similar setting.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to empathize with pet owners and explain complex medical concepts.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Patient and passionate about delivering exceptional animal care.
• Familiarity with Rhapsody PIMS is a plus, but not required.

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $25-$35 per hour, depending on experience, with potential for longer-term employment.

• Predominantly small animal cases, with some exotic species.
• Part-time schedule, approximately 8-9 hours per day, up to 3 days per week.
• Temporary position, with possibility of extension or conversion to a full-time role.
• Available days: Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, with flexibility to accommodate additional shifts.
• 1099 contract, non-employee status.
