Cancer Care Navigator

MedStar Health seeks a highly skilled and compassionate Cancer Care Navigator to join our oncology team. In this role, you will play a vital part in coordinating patient care, educating patients and families about cancer diagnosis and treatment options, and advocating for their needs throughout the care continuum.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform intake assessments and coordinate navigation of patients referred for Radiation Therapy
- Serve as a liaison between referring physicians, patients, and healthcare providers to ensure timely access to necessary services
- Screen patients for relevant information, manage medical records, and facilitate planning and implementation of patient evaluations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including radiology, medical oncology, radiation medicine, and other services to ensure seamless care coordination
- Identify opportunities for clinical trial participation and communicate with healthcare providers to promote enrollment
- Navigate patients through the care continuum, providing education and resources on medical conditions, treatments, support services, and hospital processes
- Communicate patient progress to healthcare providers and aid in maintaining outcome databases
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree preferred
- 3-4 years of clinical nursing experience required; surgical oncology experience preferred
- Demonstrated clinical maturity, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with a high level of advocacy and problem-solving ability
