Production Supervisor - Rendering - 3rd Shift


Company Overview

Indiana Packers Corporation is a leading fresh pork processing and packaging enterprise in the Midwest, with a capacity to process up to 16,500 hogs daily. We are currently looking for a Production Supervisor to oversee the Rendering department during the 3rd Shift. This role is crucial in managing the rendering operations, ensuring adherence to operational protocols and maintaining optimal working conditions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Guide team members in producing high-quality products in line with established company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations within the area of responsibility as mandated by law and company policy.
  • Conduct job-related training for all team members, ensuring compliance with company job rotation requirements.
  • Utilize effective communication skills to mentor team members, addressing employee concerns and implementing corrective measures.
  • Foster a positive workplace environment, upholding ethical standards and treating all team members with respect.
  • Oversee the completion of production schedules as directed by management.
  • Guarantee adherence to processing protocols (quality, safety, etc.) without compromise.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of discipline and accountability among team members while striving for company and customer goals.
  • Monitor production processes and implement timely improvements to meet quality and quantity objectives.
  • Employ problem-solving techniques and teamwork strategies to efficiently achieve production targets.
  • Manage workflow, workforce scheduling, and placement to meet or exceed company goals.
  • Conduct necessary process audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions to minimize deviations.
  • Ensure team member compliance with company policies, safety standards, and housekeeping practices through fair accountability methods.
  • Collaborate with other supervisors daily to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Assist with pre-operation tasks as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience within Indiana Packers or in a rendering department.
  • Mechanical aptitude to address and delegate solutions for mechanical issues.
  • Familiarity with USDA and HACCP procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to climb ladders and stairs in high-temperature conditions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in extreme environments (hot, cold, wet, humid, and odorous).
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and extended hours, including weekends.
  • Good computer literacy and ability to produce clear reports.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on employee engagement.
  • Commitment to safety policies and practices, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Adherence to company policies and ethical standards.
  • Strong leadership and motivational abilities.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to participate in training and development opportunities.
  • This position requires physical stamina, including standing and walking for extended periods and occasionally lifting up to 90 pounds.
