About the Role

As a Healthcare Coding Consultant at CommonSpirit Health, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our coding practices. This position requires a strong understanding of coding regulations, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement organizational monitoring activities and educational programs to ensure proper reimbursement and compliance with regulatory statutes.
  • Work in a consulting capacity to identify compliance issues, analyze practice patterns, verify charges, and ensure optimal reimbursement for the organization.
  • Implement necessary changes and modify policies, conveying these changes to clinical departments and educating staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus credentialed as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician based (CCS-P).
  • One year of CPT and diagnosis coding experience in a healthcare provider or third-party payer.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interact tactfully yet assertively with physicians and other professional staff.
  • Strong presentation skills and comfort in settings ranging from one-on-one communications to large groups.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years of CPT and diagnosis coding experience in a healthcare provider or third-party payer.
  • Three years of experience as an instructor/trainer.
  • Clinical knowledge and exposure to risk adjustment coding.
  • Experience with Radiation Oncology coding.
