About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Behavioral Therapist to join our Special Education team at Boston Public Schools.

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Therapist will work under the direction of the Special Education and Student Services Program Director for ABA, implementing individualized intervention programs utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis principles in a classroom setting or individually as needed.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Implement structured and individualized intervention programs for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related disorders.
  • FOLLOW specific management guidelines for each student to ensure accurate and effective treatment.
  • Work collaboratively with a team to deliver high-quality interventions across environments.
  • Collect and graph data accurately for each program, analyzing results to inform treatment decisions.
  • Promote social skills through peer group activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss student progress and address challenges.
  • Attend training opportunities provided by the Program Director for ABA to enhance professional development.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and administrators regarding student issues or concerns.
  • Document daily service delivery for each student served, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience working with students with ASD, moderate/severe disabilities, or related disorders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in ABA intervention, including data collection and report writing.
  • Ability to follow Behavior Support Plans and Curriculum Plans accurately and consistently.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with students, families, teachers, and administrators.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole, Vietnamese, Haitian Creole, Chinese, or Spanish may be an asset.
