About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Habilitation Assistant to join our team at WellLife Network. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in our classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all unit activities promote social responsibility, independence, dignity, and continued growth among participants.
  • Implement goals designed to maximize each participant's level of independence, as determined by the IDT.
  • Provide training in activities of daily living and perform these activities for individuals requiring total support, as needed.
  • Monitor participants' progress by collecting and documenting performance data.
  • Serve as a positive role model for participants in various program and community settings.
  • Provide behavioral interventions when necessary, following the least restrictive OPWDD-approved techniques.
  • Must successfully complete and perform all techniques required in AMAP, SCIP, CPR, and First Aid.
  • Implement the established activity schedule for each consumer.
  • Ensure that the unit is clean, safe, stimulating, and appropriately decorated at all times.
  • Supervise participant's lunch periods, including feeding, assisting with food, and providing verbal and physical support.
  • Participate in various appointments for assigned participants, as required.
  • Must be able to physically interact with program individuals, navigate the environment independently, and assist with SCIP interventions, emergency CPR, AMAP, and/or first aid techniques.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Caseload and location are subject to change.
Requirements
  • Valid NYS driver's license (may be waived for Assistant Habilitation Specialists or Relief staff not driving agency vehicles).
  • High School Diploma/GED required; experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
