Salary Information

The estimated annual salary for this position is $87,700 - $186,100, reflecting the skills, experience, and qualifications required for the role.

Job DescriptionMain Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing diseases, and providing preventive care based on individual needs.
  • Develop treatment plans for patients undergoing day hospitalization and communicate effectively with referral hospitals for continuity of care.
  • Perform routine and complex surgical procedures, including spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory, and mass removals.
Additional Duties
  • Participate in rounds as incoming or exiting doctor at shift beginning and end.
  • Disseminate knowledge throughout staff to improve the level of care and communication provided to patients and clients.
Nature of Supervision

The Veterinarian will take direct supervision from the Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director, upholding standards set forth in Petco Veterinary SOPs.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
  • Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
  • Current DEA license and Controlled Substance License, if applicable, in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
  • USDA Category I (minimum) Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.

Work Environment

This role requires working in a fast-paced veterinary environment, involving prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and interacting with clients and their pets.
