Job Title: Software Application Specialist

Sage Oak Charter Schools is seeking a highly skilled Software Application Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our technology department, you will be responsible for managing and integrating educational software applications across our virtual learning environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the integration of educational apps with Sage Oak's systems, particularly focusing on Clever as the main student portal for all digital materials
  • Create a workflow and guidelines for adding new apps and curriculum to Clever, ensuring a streamlined and efficient process
  • Manage and configure data rostering between applications such as Clever, Canvas, and other educational software, utilizing advanced database techniques to ensure accurate and consistent data transfer
  • Design and implement custom data sections in educational apps to provide tailored user experiences that meet the specific needs of students and staff
  • Manage manual and automated syncs to ensure data consistency across departments, maintaining up-to-date and accurate information
  • Develop and maintain internal change logs and documentation for all applications to ensure transparency and accountability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, including discrepancies in student data transfers, to maintain smooth and reliable system operations
  • Manage app licensing, including adding licensing and purchasing information to Digital Insights, and ensures that licenses do not expire
  • In collaboration with the Technology Training Manager, develops procurement strategies based on detailed analyses of software usage and needs assessments, optimizing resource allocation and budget management
  • Regularly reviews and updates application settings to meet evolving data privacy laws and educational standards
  • Implements secure authentication protocols, such as Single Sign-On (SSO), and manages encryption settings to protect student information
  • In collaboration with the Technology Training Manager, conducts thorough audits of all platforms to ensure compliance with laws like FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act)
  • Provides training and resources to IT staff and department administrators on application requests and management, ensuring they are equipped to handle their responsibilities effectively
  • Establishes and maintains a responsive IT support system to handle inquiries and issues related to educational apps, utilizing ticketing systems and feedback loops to improve application performance and user satisfaction
  • Regularly tests software applications on different devices (Chromebooks, iPads, Macs) to ensure compatibility and performance, addressing and resolving any issues related to hardware-software interaction
  • Evaluates and deploys assistive technologies that cater to diverse learning needs, including applications for students with disabilities
  • Translates technical details into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear communication about the capabilities, limitations, and requirements of IT systems
  • In collaboration with the Technology Training Manager, coordinates with departments to manage and streamline app usage and rostering, fostering collaboration and efficiency
  • Utilizes project management tools to track progress, assign tasks, and ensure timely completion of IT application initiatives, maintaining oversight of all related projects and deliverables
Requirements:
  • Associate in Information Technology degree or related field
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred
  • Four (4) years of related experience preferred, particularly in managing and integrating educational software applications
  • Experience in software and application management, including troubleshooting, configuration, and deployment
  • Proficiency in database management, including data rostering techniques and comprehensive data reporting capabilities
  • Demonstrated experience in managing application licensing and procurement strategies
  • Knowledge of data privacy laws and secure authentication protocols, including FERPA and COPPA compliance
  • Experience with Single Sign-On (SSO) implementations and managing encryption settings
Working Conditions:

The Software Application Specialist will work in an office environment with moderate noise levels. The position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, lift objects up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment.
