About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Counselor to join our team at Berks Counseling Center. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will play a vital role in providing integrated treatment services to clients with behavioral and physical health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions to clients, under the supervision of master's level and/or licensed staff.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations of potential clients, including screening and intake processes.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each client.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, ensuring compliance with agency standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination and support.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a related social service field, such as counseling, psychology, or social work.
  • At least three months of direct counseling and substance abuse counseling experience, or relevant internship.
  • A Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB) certification, such as CRS, CAC, or CADS, or the ability to obtain it within one year of employment.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week, within agency hours of operation, which are 8am-8pm Monday-Thursday, 8am-4pm Friday, with Saturday hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish
  • Knowledge of or experience with trauma-informed approaches
  • Assessment and treatment of behavioral health disorders
  • Community services available to low-income, high-risk populations
  • Experience in documenting clinical needs clearly, concisely, and in a timely manner

Clearance Requirements
  • Receipt of results of a satisfactory drug and alcohol screening test
  • Receipt of the originals of the following background checks: PA State Police Criminal History, PA State Child Abuse, and DPW FBI Criminal History
  • Receipt of original documentation and verification of relevant degrees, diplomas, certificates, or licensure
  • Confirmation that you are not on the OIG Federal Healthcare Program Exclusion from Participation list
  • If considered for a position that may require operating BCC's company car or transporting clients, a 10-Year Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and a valid Driver's License
