Medical Assistant Specialist

A Medical Assistant Specialist position is available at Southern Ohio Medical Center. As a key member of the laboratory team, you will be responsible for receiving and processing specimens, performing receptionist duties, and maintaining accurate records.

About the Job:
The Medical Assistant Specialist will receive and electronically record specimen receipt in the Laboratory Information System (LIS), ensuring samples are appropriate for testing. They will also register patients, order testing, label and access specimens for laboratory analysis, and distribute them to the appropriate department.
In addition to these responsibilities, the Medical Assistant Specialist will perform receptionist duties, including answering phones and directing patients, visitors, and employees to the correct areas of the lab and hospital. They will also maintain office supplies, process PKU specimens for delivery to the Ohio Department of Health, and utilize the automated line as necessary.
This is a full-time position that offers competitive compensation, including an estimated salary range of $40,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience. The ideal candidate will have previous client services experience and possess excellent interpersonal and technical skills.
