Nurse Specialist

As a Registered Nurse at Advocate Health, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care in our Orthopedic and Neurological department. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate nurse to join our team at Sherman Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
• Utilize the nursing process to assess patient needs, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate the effectiveness of care.
• Collaborate with patients and families to plan and implement care, promoting a therapeutic relationship throughout the healthcare continuum.
• Anticipate and recognize significant changes in patient condition, status, and need for care, taking appropriate actions to ensure timely interventions.
• Implement strategies to reduce patient risk and increase patient safety, assessing patient and family readiness to learn and individualizing the approach as necessary.
• Actively coordinate discharge plans, utilizing an interdisciplinary approach to ensure seamless transitions of care.
Requirements
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing.
• Typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing.
Preferred Qualifications
• Proficient computer skills, use of electronic mail and electronic medical records systems.
• Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with patients, team members, and physicians.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively make critical, independent decisions, with excellent organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively with others, promoting a culture of safety and teamwork.
Working Conditions
• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
• May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste, as well as blood and body fluids, and communicable disease, requiring the use of protective clothing and equipment as necessary.
• Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch, with the ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
