Minimum Qualifications- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited residency program and fellowship program in Surgical Critical Care
- Current or pending license in Minnesota and/or Wisconsin to practice as a Physician
- Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration for prescription writing in Minnesota and/or Wisconsin
- Board eligible or Board certified in the appropriate specialty
- N/A
You will possess knowledge of current principles and techniques of physician practice, with the ability to function as a team leader, primary provider, and role model. You will be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, personnel, and other Physicians, establishing professional working relationships. You will also be able to recognize the legal limits of physician practice, maintain professional competency through continuing education, and support Saint Luke's goals and objectives.
Physical Demands and EnvironmentAs a Surgical Critical Care General Surgeon, you will be required to stand occasionally, walk occasionally, sit continuously, use hands to finger, handle, or feel continuously, reach with hands and arms occasionally, stoop, squat, kneel, or crouch occasionally, and bend-repetitive forward occasionally. You will also be required to talk or hear continuously.
Lifting Requirements- Up to 10 pounds - Frequently 1/3 to 2/ hours
- Up to 25 pounds - Occasionally Under 1/ hours
You will be regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases, contact with patients under various circumstances, exposed to unpleasant elements, subject to varying and unpredictable situations, handle emergency or crisis situations, and perform emergency care. You will also be occasionally subjected to irregular hours and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries.
Additional InformationYou will have the opportunity to join a fantastic hospital-based practice serving a population of 500,000 with a high demand for trauma/acute care/emergency general surgery patients. You will also have the potential for a robust elective general surgery practice, including two Xi Da Vinci robots. This surgery team consists of skilled, well-respected, and seasoned surgeons and physician assistants. You will enjoy a collegial atmosphere at this American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma verified Level 2 Trauma Center, with on-site subspecialty care. You will also have plenty of opportunity to grow your elective practice with a large hospital-employed team of referring providers and adequate operative time both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Call is dedicated to a single hospital and averages every 7th day. Critical care coverage is shared with other intensivists. Convenient access to hospital, clinic, and outpatient surgery center, which are all on campus and connected via skywalk.
