The Senior Merchandise Planner plays a key role in the Planning department, providing training and support to planners and fulfilling a planner role.

They partner with Supply Chain and Merchandising to develop, execute, and analyze bottom-up plans at the sub-department level, which are then rolled up to meet company goals.

Developing knowledge of merchandise categories and incorporating this into the planning process is crucial for success in this role.

Leading planning meetings to discuss goals and expectations of the Merchant team is also a key responsibility.

Conducting fact-based analysis of performance metrics using history and trends is essential for making informed decisions.

Presenting exception-based reporting to Supply Chain and Merchandising with recommendations for action is a critical aspect of this role.

Leading weekly Open to Buy meetings and having a strong understanding of the metrics used in inventory management is also required.

Assisting team members in understanding performance metrics is another important responsibility.

Preparing month-end and year-end reporting that is submitted to the planning director and manager is also a key task.

Supporting planners with additional training and working with the planning manager to support the team is also a key responsibility.

Assisting in training new planners and fielding questions from the team is also required.

Acting as the liaison between the Analytics and IT departments and the Planning department to request assistance is also a key responsibility.

Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance is required for this role.

Solid understanding of merchandising and allocation/replenishment principles, practices, and procedures is also required.

Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Access, are also necessary.

Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and remain detail-oriented, as well as being an energetic team player, is also required.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Regular computer work and sitting are required for this role.

Developing objectives and general policies and procedures for a specific program or functional area of responsibility within the general scope of established operational goals and plans is also a key responsibility.

Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by the immediate supervisor.
