Deaf and Hearing Community Interpreter Opportunity

We are seeking skilled Deaf and hearing community interpreters to join our team at Sorenson Communications.
About the Role:
This part-time opportunity requires effective interpretation services for Deaf consumers in multiple locations company-wide.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hearing interpreters will interpret between ASL and spoken English, while Deaf interpreters will interpret between ASL, Tactile American Sign Language, other forms of visual communication, and written English.
- Avoid errors by adhering to Sorenson policies and procedures, as well as the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct.
- Prioritize excellent customer service while maintaining a respectful and professional attitude with customers and colleagues.
- Work collaboratively within a team environment, receiving support from and providing support to colleagues.
- Maintain high performance standards and meet expectations with minimal supervision.
- Continuously enhance interpreting skills through ongoing education and training.
- Fulfill national, state, or local licensure and/or certification requirements as necessary.
- Adapt to a dynamic environment, working effectively in various settings and locations.
- Comply fully with Sorenson Communications' attendance requirements.
- Represent the Sorenson brand professionally when interacting with customers in the field.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to interns or assigned mentees.
- Be punctual and prepared for each interpreting engagement.
Skill Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in ASL: Click here
- Ability to pass our required skills assessment
- A high school diploma or GED
- An associate's or bachelor's degree (preferred but not required)
- Interpreter certification
- Three years' experience working as an interpreter (preferred but not required)
- The ability to travel independently in metropolitan areas, where driving is required – access to a vehicle, valid driver's license, and minimum state-required personal vehicular insurance level
