Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with our physicians to provide high-quality patient care, perform surgical procedures, and assist with administrative tasks.

Job Description

As an Orthopaedic Surgical Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing complete physical exams, pre-operative and post-operative evaluations, and recording findings.
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, such as x-rays, MRIs, and lab results.
  • Establishing diagnoses, developing treatment plans, and implementing necessary ancillaries.
  • Assisting in surgeries and providing call coverage as needed.
  • Managing PR/PO and surgery-related paperwork.
  • Consulting with specialists and interventional physicians as required.
  • Providing minor office surgical care, including suturing and removing sutures or staples.
  • Administering injections, oral medications, and performing clinic procedures.
  • Preparing written prescription orders and authorizing refills.
  • Assisting physicians with applying specialized orthopedic devices and fitting braces.
  • Instructing patients on medication use and treatment instructions.
  • Triaging patient calls, answering questions, and providing consultation and education.
  • Providing monitoring and continuity of care.

Administrative Responsibilities

You will also be responsible for:

  • Providing supporting documentation and coding information for healthcare services.
  • Attending meetings and participating in committees as requested.
  • Participating in professional development activities and maintaining affiliations.
  • Protecting patient privacy in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A graduate degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • 2-3 years of experience as an APP in an ortho setting with surgery experience.
  • A valid license in the State of Texas.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated conflict management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Operating room experience is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement planning, and paid time off.
