Diesel Technician Roadside Assistance Specialist

About the Job
Penske is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician Roadside Assistance Specialist to join our team in Waterbury, CT. This role is responsible for providing top-notch service to customers with roadside assistance needs, ensuring timely and effective repairs on the side of the road.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair maintenance issues on trucks in all weather conditions, prioritizing safety above all else.
- Respond to road assist calls, identifying parts requiring replacement and warrantable repairs, documented accurately.
- Perform diagnostics and non-road assist call repairs as needed, maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
- Restock rapid assist vehicles with tools, parts, tires, or other essential items to ensure effective roadside assistance.
- Maintain and repair road assist vehicles as required, adhering to Penske's safety and maintenance policies.
- Support designated in-shop repairs as directed by supervisors, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
- Participate in other projects and tasks assigned by supervisors, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to learn.
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of practical experience in tractor trailer maintenance, with a focus on diesel engine repair and troubleshooting.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; vocational/technical certification or specialized training in vehicle components is preferred.
- Proficiency in shop tools and equipment, including computer systems for data entry and maintenance tracking.
- A valid CDL license with air brake certification is mandatory; basic computer skills are beneficial for data entry and record-keeping.
- The ability to work in non-climate controlled environments, often at heights using ladders and elevated platforms, is essential.
- Frequent lifting and movement of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds are required.
