Job Summary:

The Hospitalist Physician will provide inpatient coverage for ICU/Telemetry, Medical/Surgical Unit, Psych Unit, and the Continuous Living Center (CLC) at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide inpatient care for patients in various units, including ICU/Telemetry, Medical/Surgical Unit, Psych Unit, and the Continuous Living Center (CLC).
  • Follow established medication policies and procedures, and do not provide sample medications to patients.
  • Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients.
  • Participate in the facility's Peer Review process and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Adhere to all established patient safety and infection control standards of care.
  • Report all events related to patient injury, medication errors, and other breaches of patient safety to the COR VA Safety Policy.

Requirements:

  • Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).
  • Must have a current license to practice medicine in any state, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
  • Shall be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Must be graduated from an accredited medical school (either MD or DO).
  • Completion of a Residency in Family Medicine.
  • Must have a valid unrestricted Driver's License.
