Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant I to join our team in the Hematology/Oncology Acute Care Unit. This position requires providing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
About the RoleThis is a full-time position working 36 hours per week on a rotating shift schedule, including weekends and holidays. As a Nursing Assistant I, you will be responsible for assisting physicians and healthcare providers with examinations and procedures, procuring equipment and supplies during emergencies, and supporting patients and their families throughout their hospital stay.
Responsibilities- Assist with routine examinations and procedures, as well as emergency situations, under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
- Provide support to patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge from the clinical area.
- Observe, collect, and document patient information, reporting significant changes to a registered nurse or physician.
- Perform various tasks outlined in the plan of care, including vital sign measurement, specimen collection, skin preps/scrubs, catheter care, capillary blood glucose checks, simple wound care, range of motion exercises, postural drainage, and supportive patient interactions.
- Provide personal care to patients, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with ambulation.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and safe environment by cleaning the work area, changing linens, re-stocking supplies, cleaning/sterilizing instruments, transporting patients/supplies/specimens, and assisting in the orientation of new employees and students.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification required.
- At least six months of relevant nursing assistant experience, which may include a nursing assistant course.
- Fluent in verbal and written English language and able to develop basic computer skills.
The estimated salary for this position is $17.00-$20.40 per hour, based on experience and internal equity. This role offers an extensive benefit package, including PTO hours accrued based on worked hours.
