Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Traffic Engineer to oversee and contribute to a variety of traffic engineering projects. This role will involve managing complex traffic studies, developing innovative solutions, and leading a team of professionals in enhancing transportation systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage traffic engineering projects from conception through implementation, ensuring they meet client requirements and industry standards.
  2. Conduct comprehensive traffic studies, including traffic flow analysis, signal design, and safety assessments.
  3. Develop and evaluate traffic models and simulations to improve transportation efficiency and safety.
  4. Prepare and review technical reports, design plans, and specifications.
  5. Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and team members to deliver effective and innovative traffic management solutions.
  6. Stay current with transportation engineering trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
  7. Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical leadership and support.
  8. Present findings and recommendations to clients, public agencies, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in traffic engineering, with a proven track record of managing complex projects.
  • Expertise in traffic engineering software such as Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of traffic control devices, signal systems, and transportation planning principles.
  • Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
