POSITION TITLE: Educational Support Specialist, ConVal Preschool Program

SUPERVISOR: Building Principal

REPORTS TO: Preschool Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Experience working with diverse student populations is preferred. Paraprofessional certification is a plus but not mandatory. Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, collaborative approach to problem-solving are essential. Familiarity with basic computer operations and assistive technology is expected. Organizational skills are necessary.

SUMMARY: The Educational Support Specialist will assist and collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members to enhance the educational experience for students. This role involves implementing lesson plans provided by the Special Education Teacher, Classroom Teacher, and other specialists. The Educational Support Specialist will not be solely responsible for supervising students and must work under the guidance of instructional or administrative staff at all times.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand and implement Individual Education Program (IEP) goals as directed by the educational team.
  • Facilitate student participation in the general curriculum.
  • Collect and record data related to IEP goals and share insights with team members.
  • Support the school's instructional strategies and expectations for student behavior and inclusion.
  • Communicate student progress to the educational team.
  • Participate in weekly meetings and integrate learned information into classroom practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all student information.
  • Prepare educational materials as directed by the instructional team.
  • Assist with Medicaid paperwork as required.
  • Attend necessary workshops and training sessions.
  • Support students as assigned by the administration, applying learned techniques and skills.
  • Utilize technology effectively, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Engage with a variety of stakeholders, including staff, students, and parents.
  • Adapt to perform under pressure in emergency situations.
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the educational team.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

The role may involve physical activities such as lifting, bending, and reaching, requiring a degree of physical fitness. The worker must possess close visual acuity for tasks involving data analysis and documentation.
