Job Summary

We are seeking a Medical Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide vital support to patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment.

 

About the Role

This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as you will work closely with patients, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless delivery of care. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, monitor patient vital signs, and perform routine laboratory tests.

 

Responsibilities

  • Patient Education:
    • Provide detailed education to patients regarding their disease process and access.
    • Assist patients in understanding online clearance monitoring, adequacy monitoring program, and urea kinetic modeling.
  • Patient Treatment:
    • Welcome patients, inquire about their well-being, and evaluate vascular access for patency.
    • Perform vascular access cannulation, administer heparin as delegated or allowed by state law, and initiate dialysis treatment.
    • Evaluate intradialytic problems, provide intervention as prescribed, and monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy.
  • Maintenance/Technical:
    • Clean and disinfect dialysis machine surfaces, chairs, equipment, and surrounding areas between treatments.
    • Conduct all tasks necessary for preparation for dialysis treatment and document accordingly.
  • Record Keeping:
    • Complete and document ongoing participation in Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
    • Enter treatment data into designated clinical applications accurately and timely.

 

Requirements

  • Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • License/Certification: Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline.
  • Experience: At least two years previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred.

 

Estimated Salary: $50,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on location and qualifications.
