Ultrasound Technologist Job Description

Mass General Brigham is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team in Boston, Massachusetts.

  • Job Summary: As a Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for selecting proper imaging techniques, operating ultrasound-imaging equipment, and providing an initial interpretation of exams to physicians in diagnosis and treatment of pathologies.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Ensures two points of patient identification are obtained, and the patient is properly prepared for the exam.
    • Reviews the patient's chart to obtain pertinent clinical history, test results, and laboratory data.
    • Explains the exam to the patient, taking into account their physical and emotional needs.
    • Performs Ultrasound studies on premature infants in an intensive care unit, demonstrating knowledge of illnesses related to this patient population.
    • Rotates within department, divisions, and all off-site clinics, as required, and maintains effective working relations and communication with departmental and other hospital personnel.
    • Executes paperwork, PACS, RIS, and reporting functions as necessary for each patient exam.
  • Requirements: Must have graduated from an AMA accredited Ultrasound Program with a minimum of 12 months' full-time clinical ultrasound experience. Must meet the requirements and successfully complete the ARDMS certification (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) or equivalent.
