As the Founding Principal of Launch Expeditionary Learning Charter School's high school, you will spearhead a groundbreaking initiative to revolutionize education in Central Brooklyn. Our mission is to empower students to become leaders in tackling climate change and racial equity.

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional educational leader to join our team and drive the success of our inaugural high school class. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for implementing our School Design Blueprint, developing a comprehensive vision for grades 9-12, and building a cohesive culture across both students and adults.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the School Design Blueprint, ensuring that all aspects of the school are aligned with our mission and values.
  • Develop a comprehensive vision for grades 9-12, focusing on deep design around the 9th-grade experience to set students up for success.
  • Build a cohesive culture across both students and adults, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Serve as liaison to the Board, attending meetings and keeping them informed of progress and growth areas.

Priorities for the First Year:

  • Complete the School Design Blueprint through co-facilitation with design partners from Transcend.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the instructional approach and make necessary adjustments.
  • Coordinate the piloting process to test elements of the design and gather feedback from stakeholders.
  • Ensure all materials and resources are ready for implementation in the 2025-26 school year.
  • Recruit founding high school staff and students.

About You

We are looking for an experienced school leader with at least two years of experience leading a team, managing budgets, and driving results. You should have a proven track record of elevating student achievement and cultivating positive culture. Strong collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential. You should also be passionate about project-based and competency-based learning, and committed to staying at Launch High School for at least five years.
