Position Summary
The Culinary Director will be responsible for managing the culinary team, supervising daily kitchen activities, and ensuring compliance with company policies and objectives. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to maintain a positive, harmonious, compliant, and cooperative work environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop a team of 35 full-time and part-time culinary employees, including hiring, firing, and disciplining.
  • Ensure event staff are aware of workplace expectations, provide on-going assistance, training, and mentoring, and promote a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative workplace environment.
  • Control labor costs through effective scheduling, cross-training, and development of employees, monitoring breaks, and break documentation.
  • Oversee food purchasing and preparation to meet company standards of quality and consistency.
  • Coordinate storage, maintenance, and repair of kitchen equipment, deliver and set-up catered services and food service areas as needed.
  • Maintain proper kitchen record keeping, administrative requirements, and ensure employee compliance with uniform policy.

Requirements
  • Minimum 2-3 years of kitchen management experience in a full-service restaurant or events venue.
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting projected costs.
  • Professional appearance and presentation required.
  • Knowledge of computer software, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Current Food Handler's card and alcohol service permit if required by state or local government.
  • Working knowledge of employee scheduling in a hospitality environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in a nationally recognized sanitation program.
