Staff Psychiatrist

CARES is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health services to children and adults with developmental disabilities and/or mental health diagnoses.

The Staff Psychiatrist will be responsible for the psychiatric health and wellness of CARES clients, including assessment, prescribing processes, and supporting the clinical services provided by the agency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve treatment plans, medical history, and medical reviews.
  • Provide input for enhanced client care via weekly clinical team meetings, supervision, and problem-solving sessions.
  • Ensure timely, clinically appropriate, and regulatory-compliant documentation.
  • Spends between 80% and 85% of their time seeing CARES clients, including interviews, psychiatric examinations, lab orders, and medication prescriptions.
  • Support clinical team as needed.

Requirements:

  • Board-certified and licensed to treat both children and adults in New York State.
  • Knowledge of typical and neurodiverse populations.
  • Understanding of Emergency Services in NY State.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical responsibility and oversight for other professional staff members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Minimum of 10 hour commitment per week.
