About the Job

On-Board Companies is seeking a skilled Certified Welding Inspector II to join our team. As a key member of our inspection team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of construction materials and welds. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying and addressing any defects or nonconformities, ensuring that our clients receive high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials and welds to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to identify potential issues.
  • Document findings and results in clear and concise reports.
  • Prepare inspection reports and document nonconformities.
  • Communicate with project managers and other personnel to ensure effective collaboration.
  • May interact with clients and other site personnel to provide input on resolution of findings.
  • May assist project managers in developing scope for testing and inspection services.
  • Maintain equipment operation and calibration.
  • May assist senior inspectors on large, complex projects.
  • Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology preferred.
  • Minimum 2-4 years' experience in construction inspection.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Preferred Certifications
  • NICET Level II certification in Construction Materials Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, Soils).
  • NICET Level II certification in Geotechnical (Construction, Laboratory, Exploration, Generalist).
  • ICC certification (Reinforced Concrete, Spray-applied Fireproofing, Structural Masonry, Prestressed/Post-Tensioned Concrete, Structural Steel - Bolting, Structural Steel - Welding).
  • American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
  • American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level II certification (Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT)).
  • ACI certification* in one or more of the following areas: Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I, Concrete Strength Testing Technician.
