Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to assist the riding staff with the daily horse program at our Summer Resident Camp in Seven Hills/Timbercrest, NY. The actual salary will be based on the applicant's experience.

  • Job Summary
  • Develop professional goals for the summer that support GSWNY's mission and camp goals.
  • Assist with horse care, stable management, and riding lessons under the supervision of the Riding Director.
  • Maintain the health and safety of campers in the equestrian program.
Responsibilities:
  1. Camp Operations
  2. Coordinate unit activities, including overnights, cookouts, and other events.
  3. Work with staff to develop a cohesive team that shares in the total unit program.
  4. Assist with unit housekeeping, sanitation, and supply care.
  • Safety and Security
  • Report incidents/accidents to supervisor or health supervisor immediately.
  • Apply behavior management techniques to conflicts with children when necessary.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications
  • Ability to ride a horse proficiently at a walk, trot, and canter in both English and Western styles.
  • Knowledge of English and Western tacking, horse grooming skills, and simple horse medications.
  • Current certification in Responding to Emergencies & CPR.
  • Desire and ability to work with and relate to children and peers in an outdoor environment.
Additional Information:

The estimated salary for this position is $ ~$35,000. We offer a competitive compensation package, but seasonal employees are not eligible for company-sponsored group benefits.
