Job Description:This is an exciting opportunity to assist the riding staff with the daily horse program at our Summer Resident Camp in Seven Hills/Timbercrest, NY. The actual salary will be based on the applicant's experience.
- Job Summary
- Develop professional goals for the summer that support GSWNY's mission and camp goals.
- Assist with horse care, stable management, and riding lessons under the supervision of the Riding Director.
- Maintain the health and safety of campers in the equestrian program.
- Camp Operations
- Coordinate unit activities, including overnights, cookouts, and other events.
- Work with staff to develop a cohesive team that shares in the total unit program.
- Assist with unit housekeeping, sanitation, and supply care.
- Safety and Security
- Report incidents/accidents to supervisor or health supervisor immediately.
- Apply behavior management techniques to conflicts with children when necessary.
- Qualifications
- Ability to ride a horse proficiently at a walk, trot, and canter in both English and Western styles.
- Knowledge of English and Western tacking, horse grooming skills, and simple horse medications.
- Current certification in Responding to Emergencies & CPR.
- Desire and ability to work with and relate to children and peers in an outdoor environment.
The estimated salary for this position is $ ~$35,000. We offer a competitive compensation package, but seasonal employees are not eligible for company-sponsored group benefits.
