We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer - Complex Project Development Specialist to join our team at the U.S. Pacific Fleet, Commander in Chief. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex design projects and ensure their timely and technically accurate execution.
About the RoleThis position is responsible for conducting engineering studies to determine overall requirements for assigned work, preparing or directing the preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, or other engineering products, and providing services to accomplish troubleshooting, analyzing, and resolving technical, administrative, and scheduling problems related to assigned work.
Responsibilities- Conduct engineering studies to determine overall requirements for assigned work, including component size and capability, arrangement, special material, and work involvement of other codes.
- Prepare or direct the preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, or other engineering products in support of Navy or other customer requirements.
- Provide services to accomplish troubleshooting, analyzing, and resolving technical, administrative, and scheduling problems related to assigned work.
To be eligible for this role, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- One year as a professional Engineer analyzing work package requirements to resolve technical issues or to develop engineered solutions to problems related to ship systems or equipment.
You must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
- Successful completion of a professional engineering degree from a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
- Included differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: statics, dynamics; strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); fluid mechanics, hydraulics; thermodynamics; electrical fields and circuits; nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics.
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and location. The exact salary will be determined based on your individual qualifications and the collective bargaining agreement in place at the time of hire.
