Hematology Laboratory Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Hematology Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Antech Diagnostics. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing laboratory analyses and tests, preparing samples, setting up instruments, running tests, and reading and releasing results.

Job Summary
The Hematology Laboratory Specialist will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment and will be responsible for setting up and running lab tests, reading and releasing test results, and performing quality control per QA guidelines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory skills, including experience setting up, running, and operating lab instruments. They will also have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Set up and run lab tests, including hematology and UA tests
- Read and release test results, including UA slides at a minimum rate of 45 per hour and bacteria and path review slides at a rate of 50 slides per hour
- Perform quality control per QA guidelines, including instrument maintenance and temperature charts
- Find missing specimens, print, and reconcile queue lists
- Maintain organization of storage refrigerator
- Set up and assist with Avian and Exotic specimens as requested
- Prepare blood smears and perform re-checks as directed using LTP when necessary
- Library all samples
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, prior/some lab experience preferred and/or 2, or 4 year degree in Science-related field
- Laboratory skills, with experience setting up, running, and operating lab instruments preferred but not required
- Knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology and Parasitology procedures and equipment helpful
- General science background
- Attention to detail
- Organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Communication skills, both verbal and written
- Positive, can-do attitude
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as appropriate
- Personal computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft Office

Estimated Salary
The estimated salary for this position is $19.64 + Shift Differential per hour, with the possibility of overtime pay. Benefits and salary are subject to change and may vary based on location and other factors.
