Job Overview

Cranston is seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer Project Manager to lead our design team in project management. This role is responsible for pursuing new project opportunities, proposal preparation, identifying project staffing needs, and overseeing the financial performance of the project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify new markets and clients to bring in new projects, maintaining good contact with existing clients.
  • Prepare proposals and qualification statements, including pre-implementation estimates and winning presentations.
  • Execute project schedules, scope, and budgets, developing and maintaining project schedules and budgets.
  • Determine project team makeup and assign internal and external workloads.
  • Conduct project kick-off meetings to communicate and obtain agreement on the project schedule.
  • Monitor and follow up on invoicing and payments.
  • Manage the overall design phase, including design review meetings, progress drawings, and client involvement.
  • Manage the construction phase according to contract requirements.
  • Respond promptly to requests for information or problems and maintain good communication.
  • Accept professional responsibility for projects completed under direct responsibility.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures for technical areas.
  • Provide guidance and training to technical support personnel.
  • Coordinate other groups for project support.
  • Ensure project correspondence and design documentation is kept orderly and complete.
  • Close out projects according to established procedures.
  • Recommend personnel needs, advertisement, and hiring of staff as required.
  • Provide input to supervisor for employee evaluations.
  • Ensure personnel under direction observe and comply with personnel policies and procedures.
  • Issue warnings or recommend disciplinary action as required.
  • Routinely communicate with Principals, Engineers, Survey managers, CADD operators, Secretaries, Field inspectors, Clients, Government Agencies, Sub-Contract Firms, and Contractors.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of engineering design consulting experience.
  • Good supervisory skills, strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, and excellent project management knowledge and/or experience.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and technical software.
  • Valid Driver's License.
Education and Experience
  • BS in Civil Engineering or technical equivalent.
  • Professional Engineering License.
