Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Underwriter to join our Sompo North America Large Property team. This role will support our Industry Practice business and be based in the Alpharetta, GA and Charlotte, NC areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive acceptable submission activity and determine risk acceptability in accordance with Sompo guidelines and standards.
  • Analyze joint venture partners and underwrite foreign parents of US subsidiaries on reverse flow business.
  • Use underwriting tools and knowledge of strategies to ensure underwriting guidelines are followed.
  • Exhibit strong technical underwriting skills through strategic account reviews and file documentation.
  • Prepare information on adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, and underwriting requirements.
  • Adhere to guidelines and underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and price risks.
  • Stay current on state/territory issues, regulations, and trends.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of underwriting/insurance experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Well-versed in working with large brokerage houses, agents, and specialty retailers.
  • Experience in underwriting reverse flow business, manufacturing, wholesale/retail, food processing, technology, and life sciences risks.
  • Established underwriting, quoting, and binding track record of profitable business.
  • Strong relationships with brokers and agents on a regional and national level.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Team player and collaborative by nature.
  • Strong attention to detail.
