Robotics Engineer for Medical Device Development

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Robotics Engineer to join our team at THINK Surgical, Inc. in Fremont, CA. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and manufacturing robotic devices for orthopedic surgeries.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in robotics, mechanical engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in process development, preferably within medical devices. You will be expected to work independently on complex tasks, assessing product designs for manufacturability, process prototyping, testing, data analysis, and report writing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary manufacturing SME between R&D and manufacturing operations
  • Use manufacturing and assembly process knowledge to clearly communicate feasibility of the design with respect to manufacturing implementation
  • Provide technical direction to the vendor when designing the manufacturing process design from pilot concept to full-scale manufacturing
  • Compile and evaluate test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications
  • Resolve manufacturing problems and provide procedures and processes for manufacturing facilities

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • B.S in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in Process development, preferably within medical devices
  • Hands-on experience in manufacturing and assembly of complex electro-mechanical devices
  • Strong history in application of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
  • Demonstrated application of Gage design and tolerancing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PLCM software such as Propel, Project Management Software such as Confluence and Smart-sheet
  • Experience with medical device hardware, electrical, and software development
  • Experience with sterile medical instrumentation and disposables, in a regulatory environment

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role requires occasional travel, up to 20%, and the ability to work in a fast-paced office environment. The physical demands of this role include constant manual dexterity, moving about the work site, and/or handling objects weighing up to 20 lbs.
