Assistant Director, Domestic Violence Safehouse

The Assistant Director, Domestic Violence Safehouse will play a vital role in creating a safe and welcoming environment for residents of our shelter by assisting the Director in management of the shelter program.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing training, task assignment, and oversight of Safehouse Advocates.
- Carrying out supervisory responsibilities, including the direction, coordination, and evaluation of the program's Advocates.
- Maintaining continuous 24/7/365 staffing by coordinating shelter staff schedules.
- Overseeing receipt of donations to support shelter operations, to include maintaining the appearance of food, clothing, and goods storage.
- Coordinating and providing direct services and support to adults and families living in the shelter, with an emphasis on consistent, collaborative, survivor-centered, empowerment-based, high-quality services for all shelter guests.
- Developing and scheduling enrichment activities for clients, such as in-house yoga, nutrition/cooking classes, and art classes.
- Collaborating with the Director of Operations to address technology needs of emergency shelter facility, including building security system and personal technology safety needs of residents who have experienced domestic violence.
- Participating in program planning, policy development, oversight, evaluation, facility and technology management, and security.
- Contributing to program, policy, systems, grant reporting, implementation, and evaluation for the emergency shelter program.
- Working with other shelter staff to organize and manage inventory supplies and program materials at the shelter.
- Providing and modeling de-escalation and conflict mediation for shelter guests.
- Working with shelter guests to ensure cooperation and safe conditions for residents and staff.
- Maintaining and accurately documenting contact in client files as well as in the ETO system.
- Performing light janitorial duties as needed to maintain a sanitary and safe environment for residents.
- On the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month, leading the safehouse team on a reset of the kitchen and laundry areas. This will include but not be limited to cleaning dishes in communal sinks, emptying dishwashers, disposing of spoiled food in refrigerators, organizing and returning kitchen supplies to appropriate cabinet locations.
- Fairly and consistently implementing shelter and agency policies and practices.
- Arranging and/or providing transportation for shelter guests and their families.
- Ensuring continuous operations of 24-helpline and ensures team members are appropriately trained to provide helpline support.
- Providing coverage of 24/7/365 crisis hotline, as needed.
- Managing the onsite pet shelter.
- Participating in routine Point of Contact coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays in rotation with other staff as needed.
Schedule:
This is a full-time role, generally taking place during daytime business hours, with the need for flexibility to cover safehouse shifts overnight and on the weekend, as necessary. The individual in this role would also be expected to flex their schedule to train newly onboarded team members who work overnight and/or weekend schedules.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of intensive psychosocial services, such as casework, group work, and individual and family therapy.
- Ability to work under pressure within time constraints.
- Knowledge of and adherence to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the counseling profession.
- Willing and able to attend ongoing Trauma Informed Care trainings and webinars to stay current with trends in intervention.
- Excellent speaking and listening skills.
Requirements for Consideration:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably within Human Services.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record within the provisions of the agency's policy.
- The ability to complete SARC's 30-hour Basic Crisis Response training within 3 months of the date of hire.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working with vulnerable populations and victims/survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and stalking.
- Previous experience managing people.
