Job Summary
This full-time salaried position is located at the Washington Navy Yard and serves as part of the Aircraft Carrier Design and Systems Engineering Directorate (SEA 05V) at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). The successful candidate will work closely with the Nimitz (CVN68) and Ford (CVN78) Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Warfare System Engineering Manager, providing technical expertise on Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) for shipboard systems.

Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, with experience working with US Navy vessels, preferably nuclear powered ships. They will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical support and assessing risk for technical decisions related to Nimitz (CVN 68) and Ford (CVN 78) Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and System Engineering Manager (SEM)
  • Conducting engineering assessments, research, and problem resolution utilizing Nimitz (CVN 68) and/or Ford (CVN 78) operational experience
  • Responding to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received via various channels
  • Participating in technical approval letters for Ship Alteration (ShipAlts) and Technical Assessment Team (TAT) reviews for Ship Change Documents (SCDs)
  • Reviewing Technical Feedback Reports (TFBRs) for Planned Maintenance System (PMS) changes requiring Designated Technical Representative (DTR) review
  • Coodinating with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, TYCOM, PMS 312, PMS 378, SUPSHIP Newport News, Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS), Ship Repair Facility (SRF), & other activities to resolve technical matters
  • Reviewing technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training, etc., and providing technical recommendations
  • Developing formal presentations to brief senior officials
  • Reviewing ship, procurement, and systems specifications and submitting proposals for changes

Requirements
The successful candidate must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering from an accredited university
  • At least 3 years' experience working with Navy, Coast Guard, or Merchant Marine
  • An active Secret Security Clearance
