Customer Service Assistant

As a Customer Service Assistant at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional support to job seekers and employers. This grant-funded position is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community.
About the JobThis part-time regular annual schedule position offers variable hours, with up to 25 hours per week. Occasional teleworking may be required, subject to supervisor approval and department needs. You will be based at our A-B Tech Madison location, serving as the first point of contact for individuals visiting the Career Center.
Key Responsibilities- Greet customers and provide assistance with their queries
- Audit customer purposes and make referrals to relevant resources or begin the NCWorks registration process
- Create accounts, complete profiles, and ensure users can log in before leaving
- Makes appropriate referrals & schedules applicable appointments
- Completes potential candidate searches for local job orders using the NC Works online database
- Conducts outreach by making outbound calls or sending emails to registered, logged-in, or exited users
- Accurately records and writes case notes for each activity/service provided
- Collections and prepares information for reports using word processing, spreadsheet, and file maintenance programs
To succeed in this role, you must have:
- A minimum of a High school diploma or its equivalent
- At least two years of part-time or equivalent customer service work experience
- A minimum of two years of part-time or equivalent office support/administrative work experience
- At least one year of part-time or equivalent work experience with database administration
- A.A.S. in Business Administration, Office Systems Technology, Human Services, Social Work, or related field
- Experience in workforce development
- Experience working in Career Centers
- Program administration experience
- Experience working with diverse populations
