The Role

This Veterinary Assistant Manager position plays a critical role in providing exceptional veterinary care to our Vetco Total Care full-service hospital patients and outstanding customer service to their owners. As a key member of our technical team, you'll be responsible for setting the tone for the technical and customer support team in the hospital, fostering cohesion and motivation among team members, and ensuring that day-to-day operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet clients and patients arriving for appointments or walk-ins, escorting them into an exam room, obtaining weight and vital signs, recording all information in the electronic medical record, and beginning documentation of the patient visit.
  • Assist veterinarians with appointments (routine and emergency), surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia's, taking direct supervision from veterinarians and Hospital Office Managers or Hospital Leaders on Duty.
  • Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications under veterinarian direction, and maintain the electronic medical record.
  • Schedule appointments, communicate with and educate clients, relay test results to doctors and clients, maintain and update inventory as well as client/patient records, and manage accounts receivable.
What We're Looking For
  • A college or college-equivalent education as required in becoming a Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the state where the hospital is located.
  • At least one year of previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or working in a veterinary practice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Compassion and sympathy, with the ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations.
  • Telephone and computer skills.
  • A team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments, offer creative ideas, and accept change.
