Psychiatric Security Specialist

Job Summary

The State of Iowa is seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Security Specialist to join our team at the Civil Commitment Unit for Sex Offenders (CCUSO).

As a Psychiatric Security Specialist, you will provide direct-care services of both a security and treatment nature at CCUSO. You will assist mental health staff and perform a wide range of security functions in creating a maximally therapeutic environment for the care and treatment of individuals with mental abnormalities and/or personality disorders who were convicted of a sex offense.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise various patient activities at the CCUSO facility

Facilitate psycho-educational group activities

Document patient behaviors

Operate the master control center

Supervise patients on medical trips outside of the facility

Participate in a 5-phase treatment program that includes group and individual therapy, psycho-educational programming, physiological assessments, and transitional release

Requirements

Graduation from high school, GED, or equivalency

Ability to pass a background investigation

Completion of security training and treatment program training within a specified time frame
