Job Title: Specialist Stress Engineer

Virgin Galactic is seeking a highly skilled Specialist Stress Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity of our vehicles and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support pre-test, test, and post-test activities.
  • Develop and review test requirements, test predictions, test plans, and related documents to ensure compliance with design and load requirements.
  • Perform structural analysis to provide analytical definition and/or ensure structural integrity of test fixtures, structural components, and test/structural assemblies.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on stress analysis and structural integrity.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 12 years' experience in aerospace airframe/mechanical systems stress analysis.
  • Prior experience with both metallic and composite materials analysis/structural substantiation.
  • Proficiency with Finite Element Modeling software (FEMAP+NASTRAN preferred).
  • Strong teamwork and coordination skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with manufacturing-based ERP systems, such as Oracle.
  • Hands-on experience with composite part fabrication and assembly process.
  • Prior experience performing ground/flight test support activities in aerospace stress applications.
