Logistics Strategist: Ocean Freight Expert

We are seeking an exceptional Logistics Strategist to lead our Ocean Freight Logistics team at Liberty Hardware Mfg. Corp.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in logistics, with experience in ocean freight management and trade compliance. They will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive exceptional performance in trade compliance and inbound logistics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for ocean container movement, aligning with company objectives.
  • Set departmental goals and monitor performance to achieve year-over-year growth.
  • Coach and mentor team members, providing opportunities for knowledge enhancement and skill development.
  • Lead the implementation of trade compliance programs, including Foreign Trade Zone and C-TPAT.
  • Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and ensure proper response to new and current products.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to streamline practices and align with organizational business strategies.
  • Collaborate with management, sales, and marketing teams to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand.
  • Advise management on developments affecting profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Oversee the Freight Audit check process, including responsibilities related to air carriers, truckload, and LTL providers.
  • Maintain effective communication with Masco Logistic leadership, Masco BUs, and external forwarders and trucking companies.
  • Periodic travel may be required as part of the role.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to the Trade Compliance team, ensuring compliance with policies and applicable laws.
  • Lead cultural value efforts and contribute to total cost productivity and avoidance processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Business Administration or Supply Chain field from a four-year college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • Customs Broker license is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of global logistics trade in a Foreign Trade Zone or bonded warehouse environment.
  • Green or Black Belt certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics and modes of transportation, including small parcel, LTL, ocean freight, and truckload.
  • Excellent strategic thought leadership, influencing, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize high-impact initiatives.
  • Support other related sourcing and supply chain initiatives as assigned.
  • Knowledge of trade compliance adherence.
  • Proven track record of delivering year-over-year total value and building partnerships with logistic carriers.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.
