Job Summary

The Center Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Job Corps Center, ensuring a well-maintained and safe environment for students. This role requires strong leadership and management skills, with a focus on program development and implementation.



Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the Job Corps Center and all related activities

• Ensure Center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals

• Responsible for the daily management, supervision, and direction of the Job Corps Center and all related activities

• Adhere to all DOL/Company-approved Human Resources policies and ensure all staff are provided with a nondiscriminatory work environment with equal opportunity and treatment

• Effectively motivate, empower, and require staff to perform their job responsibilities

• Employ sound time-management and delegation skills and hold staff accountable for producing quality work

• Develop staff for career progression and discipline staff that fail to meet goals

• Provide required/supplemental training for new and current employees

• Motivate and manage staff to work effectively, create a supportive work environment, recognize staff accomplishments, and proactively address staff performance concerns

• Develop Center-beneficial linkages within the community for education, employment, Career Technical Training, and WBL

• Promote a positive image of the Center and Job Corps and establish meaningful relationships with elected officials

• Mentor, monitor, and model the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH

• Provide high-quality supervision and management for the student population, take swift and appropriate action, and positively influence student behavior

• Provide quality programs and services for students and ensure that quality is maintained and student needs are met

• Pursue improvement and enhancement of programs and services

• Exchange ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contribute meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge

• Provide quality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested

• Effectively articulate thoughts and ideas, identify problems, analyze causes, and evaluate appropriate solutions prior to taking or recommending actions

• Follow up to ensure prompt/appropriate action is taken and that problems are in fact corrected

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited school, with a Master's degree preferred. A minimum of five years of experience in program management and direction, with a substantial experience working with youth, is required. Department of Labor approval is also necessary.
