Electrical Systems Technician Job Description

Canadian Executive Search Group Inc is seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Technician to join our team. As an Electrical Systems Technician, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining electrical systems of industrial establishments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Connects wire to motors, fixtures, and other electrical equipment, replaces switches and fuses, and splices wire and insulates wire with friction tape.
  • Reads and understands blueprints and 1-line drawings.
  • Cleans work area, tools, and equipment.
Work Environment:

The Electrical Systems Technician will work in a fast-paced industrial environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, and hazardous materials.

Physical Demands:

The Electrical Systems Technician must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate and a minimum amount of verifiable years of industrial experience or a Journeyman's card to prove practice. A Master Electrician's license is also permitted and/or any similar combination of education and trade-related work experience.

The Electrical Systems Technician must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and the ability to write simple correspondence. The employee must also be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
