Job Overview:

As an Operating Room Perioperative Nurse Specialist at WMC Health, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our patients. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to function as a first assistant to the operating surgeon during surgery. You will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive nursing care and management through all phases of perioperative care.

Our 895-bed academic hospital in Valhalla, NY, provides local residents with acute-care services - Level I trauma and burn care, organ transplants, and advanced neurovascular procedures found nowhere else in the region. As a lifeline for more than 3 million, we serve as the primary referral facility for other Hudson Valley hospitals.

Responsibilities:

This position involves working under the general supervision of a higher-level nursing or healthcare professional. Your responsibilities may include:
  • Providing expert perioperative nursing care and management to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
  • Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant clinical guidelines, protocols, and best practices.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.


Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must possess:
  • A valid license and current registration issued by the New York State Education Department as a Registered Nurse.
  • Certified Nurse in Operating Room (CNOR) certification from the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI).
  • Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) certification from National Assistant at Surgery Certification (NASC).
  • Two years' perioperative nursing experience.


Compensation:
