Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Speech-Language Pathology Assistant to provide essential support services to students in our educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings as directed by the supervising licensed speech-language pathologist.
  • Implement treatment programs or individual education plans (IEPs) as designed by the supervising licensed speech-language pathologist.
  • Conduct carry-over activities to transfer students' newly acquired communication abilities to other contexts and situations.
  • Represent speech pathology at admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings as directed by the supervising speech-language pathologist.
  • Conduct observations and prepare clinical materials.

Consultation and Collaboration:

  • Work with classroom teachers to implement classroom activities that improve students' communication skills.

Student Management:

  • Create a learning environment that is conducive to students' needs and maturity levels.
  • Establish control and administer discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

Program Management:

  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and documents required, including clinical records in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and board policy.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in communicative science and disorders.
  • Texas license as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant granted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of speech-language disorders and conditions.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases.
  • May require districtwide travel.
