Company OverviewVets Hired is a leading provider of transportation services, with a strong commitment to safety and security. As a Special Agent, you will be part of our Resource Protection Solutions Team, working closely with our BNSF Police team to protect company assets and resources.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced law enforcement professional to join our team as a Railroad Law Enforcement Officer. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Protecting company assets and resources, including personnel, property, and customers' property entrusted to us.
- Conducting investigations, providing accurate reports, and testifying in court when required.
- Identifying and handling trespassers on company property, making arrests as necessary.
- Counseling and advising company officials to reduce crime and accidents, coordinating response to railroad emergencies, supervising contract security guards, and training other employees on relevant matters.
- Performing aggressive crime prevention patrols of facilities, railroad property, and trains, with a focus on TOFC/COFC, automobiles, and high-value shipments.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Satisfactory completion of basic police training at a recognized state-certified academy.
- Meet peace officer commissioning standards in the state where this job is posted and be commissioned as such, maintaining a valid State Peace Officer License.
- Meet BNSF Resource Protection Solutions Team standards as a Special Agent.
- A valid driver's license.
- The ability and willingness to travel as required.
- The ability to use the company's computer system for creating reports and databases.
- Physical and psychological fitness, with the ability to pass any required company evaluations and undergo an extensive background investigation.
- Broad knowledge of railroad industry operations, particularly in emergency situations like derailments and load securement.
- Broad knowledge of criminal law and procedures.
- The ability to lead people in stressful critical-event environments.
- Meetable government or Company training and retention standards.
- Ability to live or relocate within 50 miles of the assigned work location.
- 18 months of successful experience as a full-time peace officer with a city, county, state, federal, or railroad law enforcement agency.
