Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at the Indian Health Service. As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will be responsible for providing quality pharmaceutical services to eligible patients in accordance with Federal and State law, Indian Health Service regulations, and accepted ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Select, procure, prepare, and dispense medications as prescribed.
  • Counsel patients on use, storage, cautions, and side effects of medications dispensed.
  • Review patient medical records for safety, appropriateness, and effectiveness of drug therapy.
  • Properly store and protect drugs and chemicals.
  • Coordinate care with outside agencies, transferring prescriptions to outside pharmacies, process incoming prescriptions, and collaborate with professionals.
Requirements
  • Must pass pre-employment examination.
  • Selectee may be subject to a probationary/trial period.
  • ESEP appointees typically serve a two-year trial period.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • This is a designated position covered by Public Law, requiring contact or control over Indian children.
Education and Licensure

A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:

  • GS-11: In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements listed above, Experience or training which demonstrates your ability to perform the work of this position at the GS-11 level.
  • GS-12: In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements listed above, Experience which demonstrates your ability to perform the work of this position at the GS-12 level.
