Cement Finisher Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Substructure Cement Finisher to join our team at the City of Palo Alto Utilities. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for performing concrete construction and finish work, including basic calculations of concrete areas and volumes, operating heavy equipment, and maintaining a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform concrete construction and finish work, including pouring, finishing, and repairing concrete surfaces

Operate heavy equipment, such as dump trucks, bobcats, and concrete saws, to assist in construction and maintenance tasks

Conduct basic calculations of concrete areas and volumes to ensure accurate material usage and project completion

Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and procedures, and reporting any hazards or incidents to management

Requirements:

High school graduate or equivalent preferred

Two years of experience in general construction and maintenance, with at least one year performing journey-level concrete forming and finishing

Valid California Class A driver's license or ability to acquire within six months of employment

Working Conditions:

Construction site environment with exposure to dust, noise, and inclement weather

Lifting, standing, climbing, and kneeling required for extended periods
