Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of $23 per hour or higher, based on experience and qualifications. In addition, they will be eligible for an additional $.10 per hour for each ASE certification possessed or obtained. About the Job

As a Bus Maintenance Technician with First Student, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety. Your responsibilities will include performing preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections. You will also diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions. Additionally, you will ensure work orders are completed accurately and assist with mobile emergency services.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A valid driver's license; willingness to obtain CDL while employed – we train
  • At least 3 years of automotive or diesel maintenance & repair experience or technical school education
  • Possession of a mechanic's tool set
  • Willingness to participate in ASE certification program – training, testing, and bonuses provided
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical – DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason
