Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Technologist III to join our team at the University of South Alabama's Microbiology and Immunology department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in multiple aspects of laboratory projects examining arthropod-pathogen-host interactions, utilizing in vitro and in vivo models to elucidate determinants of vector-borne transmission and pathogens.
  • Maintain working knowledge of techniques and practices used in the laboratory, including nucleic acid purification, PCR, tissue culture, generation of bacterial stocks, and bacteria quantification.
  • Design and implement research techniques, collect and analyze data, and draw conclusions related to the research project.
  • Prepare data for publication and supervise lower-level technical positions in carrying out research experiments.
  • SUPervise and maintain the operation of a research laboratory and perform very technical and highly complex research studies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a physical or natural science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama.
  • Three years of experience in a public health, medical, clinical, or research laboratory; an equivalent combination of education or experience may be considered.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience working with arthropods and/or animal models, with special emphasis on entomology, as well as knowledge in protein analysis and bioinformatics.

Salary:

$63,000 - $80,000 per year
