Territory Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
This role will oversee stores in Iowa and requires candidates to reside in Iowa. The position is seasonal, starting around January and ending in June each year.
The Territory Manager is responsible for merchandising, maintenance, display, and customer relations for their assigned territory. They will work closely with garden center staff and Dan & Jerry's Greenhouse to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(comprehensive, but not limited to):

Recruit, manage, and train a staff of Garden Center Merchandisers and Regional Garden Center Merchandisers, adapting to changing circumstances.

Terminate employees when necessary. Provide in-person training for staff and store employees. Provide regular updates on territory performance to the Sales and Marketing Manager and other Dan & Jerry's staff. Monitor credit card expenses, company property usage, and staff performance. Ensure proper merchandising and maintenance of plant material at each location in the region. Maintain a clean and safe shopping environment. All team members must be polite and trustworthy at all times with garden center customers and associates.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Garden Center experience or a horticulture background. Merchandising experience. Experience performing interviews and managing a staff. Preferred two years of experience as a Regional Garden Center Merchandiser.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or GED.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
Possesses strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced outdoor environment. Strong personal presence with excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills. Individuals should have a neat appearance and be polite and trustworthy. Be organized and detail-oriented. Must have the ability to work well with others. Demonstrates a strong work ethic, flexibility with work hours, and willingness to be available when necessary. Does what it takes to get the job done.
