Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the Austin Energy team as an Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive safety and training programs to ensure adherence to safety practices and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement safety and training programs to ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, rules, regulations, or departmental safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct accident and incident investigations to determine root causes and develop plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide advice and counsel to management and other employee groups on a broad range of occupational safety issues and decisions.
  • Develop and conduct occupational safety training for various workgroups, including evaluation and modification of programs to meet Local, State, and Federal OSHA requirements.
Requirements
  • Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related field, plus four (4) years of experience in the assigned area of specialization.
  • Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.
  • Valid Texas Driver License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in developing and implementing Occupational Health and Safety programs for a large organization.
  • Certification in one or more core safety training programs (ie. Smith System driver, CPR/First aid).
  • Experience assessing the work environment to identify workplace hazards and devising/ implementing controls to mitigate those hazards.
